Game Now On Store Shelves; PC Demo Now Available For Download

SAN FRANCISCO – September 18, 2009 – Ubisoft today announced the official launch for the video game based on Columbia Pictures’ and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D CG film, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The video game, available on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, Wii(TM) system from Nintendo, Nintendo DS(TM) system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC, is now available at retail in North America.

Players assume the role of Flint, the hero-inventor of the movie, and immerse themselves in an interactive re-creation of the movie’s exciting and hilarious story. Using Flint’s new and exclusive wacky gadgets to defeat massively mutated food enemies and ultimately to stop the machine that is causing food to rain from the sky, players will run, climb, dodge, melt, punch, slice and dice and puzzle-solve their way through more than 20 levels spread out over 7 different environments taken from the movie; everything from Ice Cream Falls, to Jelly Castle Land! Play single-player, or team up with a friend to play as Flint’s pet monkey Steve, to drop-in/drop-out at anytime, in a hilarious co-op mode! Hurl hamburgers with the “Bigacious Pow” punching glove gadget, sling spaghetti with the “Forkamajigger!”, or launch burritos in the “Outtasighter” vehicle!

The development of Cloudy with a Chance of MeatballsTM video game is the third such collaboration in a successful partnership, with Ubisoft having produced top-selling video games based on Sony Pictures Animation’s, previous animated sensations, Open SeasonTM, and Academy Award® nominee for Best Animated Feature, Surf’s UpTM.

Windows PC users can get an early sneak peek of the action adventure game via a just-released downloadable demo. The demo, which can be found on Ubisoft’s online site here (http://cloudyvideogame.us.ubi.com/#/fun-zone), gives Cloudy fans a chance to play as Flint to save his town from a “food-tastrophe,” and get a small taste of the full retail version.

Slated for release on September 18th, Sony Pictures Animation’s Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs will be the most delicious event since macaroni met cheese. Inspired by the beloved children’s book, the film focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain.

Bill Hader, star of “Saturday Night Live” and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, will voice Flint Lockwood, a young inventor who dreams of creating something that will improve everyone’s life. Anna Faris, who recently turned heads as the star of the comedy hit The House Bunny, takes on the role of Sam Sparks, a weathergirl covering the phenomenon who hides her intelligence behind a perky exterior. James Caan plays Tim Lockwood, Flint’s technophobic father. Andy Samberg plays Brent, the town bully who has plagued Flint since childhood. Bruce Campbell plays Mayor Shelbourne, who figures out that Flint’s invention can put the town, and more importantly himself, on the map and Mr. T plays the by-the-rules town cop Earl Devereaux. The film also features the vocal talent of Neil Patrick Harris.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is written for the screen and directed by Christopher Miller & Phil Lord, based upon the bestselling children’s book written by Judi Barrett and illustrated by Ron Barrett. The film is produced by Pam Marsden.

Sequel to the winner of more than 50 Game of the Year Awards marks the arrival of one of 2010’s most highly anticipated titles

New York, NY – September 18, 2009 – 2K Games announced today that BioShock® 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, will be available worldwide beginning February 9, 2010. The game is now available for pre-order at participating retailers.

Currently in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows® LIVE, BioShock 2 will deliver two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action.

Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.

Multiplayer in BioShock 2 will provide a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive, as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.

BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin in collaboration with 2K Australia, Digital Extremes and 2K China for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows® LIVE. BioShock 2 will be available worldwide on February 9, 2010. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Time-traveling first-person shooter takes players on a wild ride through history

Cedar Falls, Iowa – September 8, 2009 – It’s here! Phantom EFX, the world’s leading developer and publisher of PC-based casual game titles, and independent game development studio 8monkey Labs announced today that their highly anticipated historically-based first person shooter, Darkest of Days, launches today for both Windows-based PC and the Xbox 360TM video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

Beginning today, Darkest of Days is available for purchase for $49.99 on the Xbox 360 and $39.99 on PC at most major retailers, including Wal-Mart, Best Buy and Gamestop. Darkest of Days will also be available for purchase online from www.phantomefx.com as well as larger online retailers such as Amazon.com. Digitally distributed copies will be available as well from Steam, Direct2Drive, Digital River and other outlets.

“For me and everyone else here at Phantom EFX and 8monkey Labs that have been working on Darkest of Days for the past three years, it’s almost hard to believe that launch day is already upon us,” said Aaron Schurman, CEO of Phantom EFX and lead writer for Darkest of Days. “We’ve put our blood, sweat and tears into this game, and we’re extremely proud of what we have accomplished. We feel that Darkest of Days is not only a fantastic game on its own merits, but that it will serve as a breath of fresh air into the somewhat crowded FPS genre and give players across the world a truly memorable, exciting gaming experience.”

Have you ever wondered what could happen if time travel was a reality? Have you ever thought about the possibility of going back in time to rewrite history for the better? That possibility is a reality in Darkest of Days, where players will travel back and forth through the annals of time to relive some of mankind’s most dire hours. By fighting through terrible events such as The Battle of Antietam, the bloodiest conflict of the Civil War, and both World War I and II, the player will attempt to save certain key individuals who were never meant to become involved in these truly monstrous events and save history from those who would attempt to change it.

Key features of Darkest of Days include:

Wreak Havoc with Future Weapons in Antiquity: Something nearly every gamer that’s ever played a shooter based in the past has always wanted is the ability to bring a futuristic weapon back through history and kick some major butt. How differently would Custer’s last stand have turned out if the General was equipped with an M-16 assault rifle? You’ll be able to answer questions like this in Darkest of Days. While not every battle and situation will allow you to wield weapons from the future, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to unleash futuristic fury on your unsuspecting foes.

Brand New Engine: The dedicated team at 8monkey Labs has created an all-new, groundbreaking game engine known as Marmoset. The Marmoset Engine not only breaks from the all-too present Unreal engine FPS clones flooding the market, but also allows for some amazing graphical capabilities. You’ll fight through epic battles filled with literally hundreds of NPCs on the screen at the same time, all with an advanced AI and all without a hint of graphical slowdown and all set against wide-open environments that are lushly detailed and dynamically lighted.

Compelling Storyline: Darkest of Days is a compelling, action-packed first-person shooter to be sure, but it’s not just mindless run-and-gun, blow ‘em up gameplay. You’ll have to not only think about how to approach certain key battles and situations, but you’ll also have to take care when fighting – certain key people that were never meant to die will be marked with a special blue aura. If you kill them, you’ll face dire consequences…

Darkest of Days is rated M for Mature by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) for blood, strong language and violence. For more information about Darkest of Days, please visit www.darkestofdays.com.

Award-Winning Sequel to Peggle Will Bring Exclusive Multiplayer Features and Great New Gameplay to XBLA Players This Fall in Anticipated Expansion Pack

SEATTLE, Washington – August 26, 2009 – PopCap Games, the leading developer and publisher of broadly appealing video games, today announced the upcoming launch of PeggleTM Nights on the Xbox LIVE® Arcade (XBLA) online service of Microsoft’s Xbox 360® video game console. Tuned specifically for the XBLA player, Peggle Nights is an expansion for the original Peggle (XBLA) and includes all the levels and challenges from the PC and Mac versions of Peggle Nights – along with the ability to play all the new Nights content in the exclusive multiplayer modes found only on XBLA. The Peggle Nights expansion pack will be available for download exclusively on Xbox LIVE this fall.

Peggle Nights is the top-selling follow up to the award-winning game franchise, Peggle, whose XBLA version quickly became a fan favorite of Xbox LIVE Arcade players earlier this year. Peggle Nights will feature all the great gameplay of the original PC version as well as the ability to battle friends and foes, and compare Peggle prowess in the 4-player Peg Party and 2-player Duel modes, the only online multiplayer modes available in any of the many Peggle adaptations to date.

Features in the Peggle Nights expansion pack for XBLA will include:

60 new Peggle Nights levels for multiplayer over Xbox LIVE and all single player/local modes

Peggle Nights Adventure mode (60 levels), including the Nights story

60 new Peggle Nights Challenges

A new Peggle Master, Marina

Peggle Nights trophy room

Peggle Nights adventure statistics

New style shots from Peggle Nights PC (available as title upgrade for all Peggle XBLA players)

Three new Xbox 360 achievements worth a total of 50 gamerscore, bringing Peggle up to a total of 250 gamerscore.

“The addictive and fun gameplay of the Peggle franchise translates extremely well when tuned for the XBLA platform,” noted Sukhbir Sidhu, co-creator of Peggle and studio chief at PopCap. “Since launching earlier this year, Peggle for XBLA earned top awards from industry critics while taking full advantage of the XBLA multiplayer format to deliver an incredible gameplay experience. Peggle Nights essentially doubles the size of the Peggle XBLA universe for players everywhere.”

“The EA SPORTS brand is known for award-winning sports video games, but today marks our entrance into the entirely new genre of virtual fitness as EA SPORTS Active hits stores,” said Dave McCarthy, vice president, EA SPORTS. “Now more than ever consumers are seeking economical solutions to getting exercise and living a healthier lifestyle, and with EA SPORTS Active we’ve designed an experience that will appeal to a variety of audiences and deliver a truly fun yet challenging workout in the home.”

Similar to a personal trainer, the program provides clear instruction, feedback on technique and encouragement with visual and oral cues, while also providing calories burned in real time.

Highly-Anticipated Sequel from EA and Steven Spielberg Features Even More Blox-busting Action for the Ultimate Social Wii Gaming Experience

LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 19, 2009 – It’s time to throw, bash, and party, as the EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. announces BOOM BLOXTM Bash Party for WiiTM has shipped to stores in North America today and will hit stores in Europe beginning May 28. EA and Steven Spielberg continue their collaboration to bring players this highly-anticipated sequel to last year’s critically-acclaimed BOOM BLOXTM game for Wii, which earned more than a dozen awards and received recognition from parenting organizations, media outlets and the gaming industry. With more than 400 new levels, stunning new worlds, and twice as much multiplayer game play, BOOM BLOX Bash Party brings tons of action-packed fun for the whole family.

“The original BOOM BLOX really came from a need to bring families back into the same space playing games together,” said Steven Spielberg. “We had so many more creative ideas that we wanted to put into the sequel, and BOOM BLOX Bash Party really takes the original concept to a whole new level of interactive family gaming.”

BOOM BLOX Bash Party features nearly twice as many multiplayer challenges as the original BOOM BLOX making it the ultimate party game! Players will have a blast playing with or against friends in co-op, versus and new team-based challenges. Whether playing solo or with friends, BOOM BLOX Bash Party will have players off the couch, throwing, bashing and slinging blox like never before!

In addition to the more than 400 new levels in BOOM BLOX Bash Party, players can also easily download new levels created by EA and the BOOM BLOX Bash Party community at no additional charge with an Internet-connected Wii. EA will make 40 additional levels available at launch with many more to come. In addition, players can create their own levels using the game’s enhanced Create Mode, and submit those levels to be posted and made available to the community. Over time, BOOM BLOX Bash Party owners will have access to many more downloadable levels in addition to those already included in the game.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer players a constant stream of new and exciting levels in BOOM BLOX Bash Party,” said Amir Rahimi, Senior Producer. “The EA team has been working hard creating exciting new levels that will be made available over time, and we cannot wait to see the passion and creativity the BOOM BLOX Bash Party community members put into making their own shared levels.”

EA takes the destruction to new heights with four stunning new themed worlds including Space, Pirate, Heroic and Show Time! Players will experience action puzzle game play in new physical environments like zero gravity and under water. Players will also encounter exciting new block types, like Virus, Conveyor and Push blox; new block shapes like cylinders and wedges, and engaging new tools, like the cannon and the slingshot. A new cast of characters, as well as favorites from the original BOOM BLOX, are now part of the puzzle-solving strategy. Players can now throw, grab or sling them, and watch them fly, knocking down blox and causing eye-popping explosions!

Developed by the EA Casual Studios, BOOM BLOX Bash Party is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB and 3+ by PEGI. The game has a US MSRP of $39.99. For more information, visit http://boomblox.ea.com.

Custom Adaptation of Peg-Popping Classic Now Available on iPhone and iPod Touch

SEATTLE, Washington – May 12, 2009 – PopCap Games, the leading developer and publisher of casual games, today announced the launch of PeggleTM for the iPhoneTM and iPod® touch. The game is available now for US $4.99 from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch, or at www.itunes.com/appstore/. One of the most critically acclaimed “casual” video games of recent years, Peggle has been downloaded nearly 50 million times and appeals to gamers of all shapes and sizes.

“Our new adaptation of Peggle for iPhone and iPod touch was truly a labor of love,” stated Andrew Stein, director of mobile business development at PopCap. “We spent huge amounts of time specifically optimizing this version of one of our favorite games to one of the world’s coolest devices, so that it was just right.”

Combining elements of pinball and pachinko, Peggle players fire a metallic silver ball from the top of the screen, relying on gravity to propel the ball downwards while it ricochets off unique arrangements of orange and blue pegs. The goal is to clear all the orange pegs from the screen, while earning as many points as possible, before running out of balls. A moving bucket at the bottom of the screen offers free balls, while green power-up pegs unlock special abilities via ten unique and memorable Peggle Masters who guide players through dozens of levels of gameplay challenges. Power-ups include explosive area-clearing blasts, lobster claws that serve as pinball-like flippers and “fireballs” that cut through all pegs in their path.

Exclusive to the iPhone and iPod touch versions of Peggle, the game boasts a host of specifically optimized features. These include a special ‘zoom’ feature for extra-accurate aiming, new types of style shots, a special aiming wheel for precision control, a new trophy system, and an enhanced UI to take advantage of the Touch and iPhone’s intuitive touch interface.
Since its first introduction in March 2007, the Peggle series has been downloaded more than 45 million times on the Web, and garnered more than a dozen awards from leading industry associations and trade journals. The game is now available for PC, Mac, Web, video iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, 650 models of mobile feature phones and smartphones, Nintendo DS and Xbox Live Arcade.

Digital Extremes tapped to create extensive and exciting multiplayer element for 2K Games’ highly anticipated shooter

New York, NY – May 8, 2009 – 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), announced today that it has signed a partnership with Digital Extremes to develop the multiplayer experience for BioShock® 2. Under this partnership, Digital Extremes is working closely with the creative team at 2K Marin to develop a new and substantial element that enhances the lore and fiction of the BioShock universe.

“The fans asked for a multiplayer experience and we answered,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “With Digital Extremes delivering a multiplayer experience for BioShock 2 that features all of the things that make BioShock unique, we’re holding ourselves to a high standard so that we can deliver the depth and variety that fans of the BioShock universe demand.”

Multiplayer in BioShock 2 provides a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.

Key features:

Evolution of the genetically enhanced shooter – Earn experience points during gameplay to earn access to new Weapons, Plasmids and Tonics that can be used to create hundreds of different combinations, allowing players to develop a unique character that caters to their playing style.

Extend the Rapture fiction – Players will step into the shoes of Rapture citizens and learn more about the fall of Rapture as they progress through the experience.

See Rapture before the fall – Experience Rapture before it was reclaimed by the ocean and engage in combat over iconic environments in locations such as Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, all of which have been reworked from the ground up to deliver a fast-paced multiplayer experience.

FPS veterans add their touch to the multiplayer experience – Digital Extremes brings more than 10 years of first person shooter experience including development of award-winning entries in the Unreal® and Unreal Tournament® franchise.

BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin, 2K Australia and Digital Extremes for PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows-based PC. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Experience the Intensity of Musical Icons Metallica and Over 20 Other Rockin’ Bands in the Newest Entry to the Smash-Hit Franchise

Santa Monica, CA – March 31, 2009 – Having pioneered and expanded the heavy metal genre while gaining critical and popular success over the past 25 years, Metallica invites gamers to “Ride the Lightning” with them and over 20 other rocking artists in Activision Publishing, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: ATVI) latest release – Guitar Hero® Metallica®. Enter the world of Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo and experience the intensity and skill of one of the greatest bands of all time. Shred on the guitar controller, rip on the drum kit controller and wail on the mic to over 45 explosive hits from both Metallica’s illustrious career and a variety of other legendary artists selected by the band, such as Alice In Chains, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band, Foo Fighters, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Queen.

“When Guitar Hero® came to us with the idea to do a game based on Metallica, we call this a no brainer and said yes very quickly,” said Lars Ulrich, drummer for Metallica. “It seemed like the next step – a whole other platform for musicians to reach an audience. If we talk about this in five years, I think it will turn into an expected way to release music.”

“Guitar Hero is a great way for people to experience the music of a band. Not just Metallica, but many bands. It’s almost educational in that sense, where people can learn about groups that range from Santana to Lynyrd Skynyrd to Journey,” said bassist Robert Trujillo.

“We are extremely excited to partner with Metallica, bringing one of the world’s best-selling artists together with one of the biggest video game brands allowing consumers to connect with artists and their music in a uniquely interactive way,” said Will Kassoy, Head of Publishing for the Guitar Hero franchise. “Guitar Hero Metallica will appeal to a wide range of fans including those of Metallica, rock music, and Guitar Hero as well as introduce the franchise to new audiences.”

Guitar Hero Metallica allows fans to “spend an evening with Metallica,” and more than 20 other popular artists, while performing in venues reminiscent of their epic album covers, themes from their music and real world locales. Guitar Hero Metallica introduces an all-new Expert+ drum difficulty setting, featuring two bass drum kick pedals that offer an authentic Metallica experience with note-for-note tracking, and Metallifacts, which, after nailing a song, lets players enjoy a virtual concert filled with on-screen facts and trivia about the song being played.

The game is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB. For more information on Guitar Hero Metallica, please visit guitarherometallica.com.

The PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system version will be available in North America in April 2009. All versions of Guitar Hero Metallica will be available in Europe beginning May 2009.
