Woman back to prison for stabbing same man

A Sioux City woman has been sentenced to prison for stabbing the same man for a second time.

According to court documents, Sandra Edwards, 40, will serve up to two years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated domestic assault for the Aug. 11 stabbing of Tracy Godfrey under the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Sioux City.

Police say Edwards stabbed the man in the torso with a kitchen knife while the two were drinking and arguing.

According to court documents, one count of felony willful injury was dismissed as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

This is the second time Edwards is serving prison time for stabbing Godfrey.

In May 2008, she pleaded guilty to stabbing him with a paring knife at their apartment in Douglas Street. She was released in February.

Edwards was being held Wednesday at the Iowa Medical & Classification Center in Coralville, Iowa.
