Sioux City Journal columnist Jesse Claeys writes that he’s more scared of the implications of Valentine’s Day than Friday the 13th. He’s not alone.

But for all those who are superstitious, this day is one to lament. Or is it?

Here are five reasons why you should just sit back and let things roll on the first of the year’s three Fridays that land on the 13th.

1.  Stock markets will be fine.

2. Friday and 13 together are not really double trouble.

3. It’s a made up fear.

4. It’s not that unlucky, study shows.

5. All right, if you don’t believe those, then we recommend staying at home.

Regardless of how it goes, the reinterpreted “Friday the 13th” movie is expected to play big this weekend.
