The quickest of quick hits on Christopher Rants, the Sioux City Republican seeking the GOP gubernatorial nomination. This morning he launched a 2010 campaign Web site, which incorporates a very cool logo. It features orange, which will make my wife, and relocated Syracuse grads to Iowa, happy.

And he’s no longer going by Christopher, but Chris. You’re invited to Meet Chris at the site.

For more on the it’s-Chris, not-Christopher topic, click here. And for all those years I withstood the notion to shorten his name when talking with Rants, not wanting to insult him. Seems everybody and their dog already calls him Chris.

For what it’s worth, the Rants won’t be shortened to Rant. He’s embraced that literal meaning to his name, titling missives “Rants’n'Raves.”
