Harriet L. Stockdale

Harriet L. Stockdale, 84, of Sioux City died Friday, March 14, 2003, at her residence following a brief illness.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Allen D. Call of First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.
Harriet was born Oct. 2, 1918, in Sheldon, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Henrietta (Meyers) Smith. She graduated from Sheldon High School.
She married Vincil J. "Jack" Stockdale Sr. on Dec. 27, 1943, in Wichita, Kan. At one time she worked at Community Lanes Bowling in Sauk Centre, Minn. Later, she was employed at Rocket Car Wash in Sioux City. She was a longtime Sioux City resident.
Harriet was an avid bowler and enjoyed bingo. Her passion was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; three sons, Vincil J. "Jack" Stockdale Jr. and his wife, Carol of Wichita, Kan., Bren Stockdale and his wife, Anna of Wichita, and Scott Stockdale and his wife, Stephanie of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a daughter Judy Lewis and her husband, Robert of Sioux City; a sister, Bernice Kaiser and her husband, Vernon of Hospers, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Kristin, Gage, Breanna, Christopher, Mitchell and Jeffery Stockdale, Nicole and Andrea Stockdale, Vincil "Jack" III and Jennifer Stockdale, Mark Allen Strub and Melissa Wiseman and her husband, Christopher; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Earl and Robert Smith.
Memorials may be directed in Harriet's name to Hospice of Siouxland.
