Grant writing workshop set
Posted: Thursday, January 05, 2006
DES MOINES -- The Iowa Arts Council will offer a grant writing workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Sioux City Art Center, 225 Nebraska St.
Iowa artists, educators, communities and organizations seeking funding for arts-related activities that benefit Iowans are encouraged to attend.
IAC staff will discuss grant programs, what review panels expect to see in grant proposals, important program guidelines and a new e-grant application process that will be implemented this spring. Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up for one-on-one meetings with IAC staff following the workshop.
IAC recently completed a weeklong "kaizen" process that cut six weeks out of its previous 10-week review process for major grant applications. The move gives grant applicants more control over their project plans and greater flexibility in seeking additional funding sources. Presenters at the workshop will describe the application process for major grants and mini grants and give advice to participants about how to present their project ideas effectively in a grant application.
Iowans interested in attending the workshop can register on-line at www.iowaartscouncil.org or they can sponsor a grant workshop in their area by visiting the IAC Web site and completing a request form. For more information, please contact Sarah Ekstrand at (515) 281-4657 or sarah.ekstrand@iowa.gov.
The Iowa Arts Council is a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and works to enrich the quality of life and learning in Iowa communities by encouraging excellence in the arts through leadership, grants and technical assistance.
