Bike Poker Run benefits Women Aware

Area bicyclists are invited to participate in the inaugural Wheeling for Women Aware bicycle poker run and separate family fun ride to benefit Women Aware Inc. of Sioux City.
The event begins with open registration at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 23 in the parking lot of the Sioux City Community Theatre, 1401 Riverside Blvd. The poker run route is a 40-mile loop to Elk Point, S.D., returning through Jefferson and North Sioux City with five stops. The seven-mile family fun ride follows the Sioux City riverfront trails.
Registration forms are available at http://www.womenawarescia.org/services. For pre-registration, forms must be postmarked by Sept. 15. The cost is $25 per individual for the bicycle poker run. For the family fun ride only, there is an immediate-family package rate of $40. Fees will increase by $5 for registrations sent after Sept. 15. Registration in advance also guarantees a T-shirt.
Vendors and family activity booths will be set up on the Sioux City Community Theatre premises. Vendor applications are still available through Women Aware. Participants in the family-fun ride will be eligible for door prizes donated by several businesses.
Women Aware is a United Way of Siouxland member agency that helps displaced homemakers and limited-income families achieve greater emotional and economic stability. For more information, call (712) 258-4174.
