Church dedication in Wayne today
Posted: Sunday, September 17, 2006
WAYNE, Neb. -- First Church of Christ in Wayne will dedicate a new facility today while also taking on a new name.
A dedication service for the newly named Journey Christian Church at 1110 East Seventh St. is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. The service will formally open a $575,000 project that more than doubles the space of the church.
"The church is growing and this enables us to use existing facilities for education space and a fellowship hall," says the Rev. Troy Reynolds.
The church, which began in March 1926, moved it its current location in 1978. Ground was broken for the worship center addition a year ago.
Dr. Richard Brown of First Christian Church in Norfolk, Neb., will give the message today. Brown used to be academic dean at Nebraska Christian College and served an interim ministry at the church in Wayne years ago. Rich Milliken, president of Nebraska Christian College, will also speak.
The service will be followed by a social time in the fellowship hall.
