Harker's unveils management lineup

Le MARS, Iowa — Harker's Distribution Inc.'s Chairman and CEO Jim Harker has announced the new management structure for the Le Mars-based foodservice distribution firm.

Stan Dickman, senior vice president of administration, has been appointed president and chief operating officer.

Dickman, a Brunsville, Iowa native, and a graduate of the former Westmar College, began his career with Harker's in 1978 as a member of the company’s Orange City, Iowa production team. For several years, he led the company's Human Resources Department, and in 1997 was named vice president of sales, purchasing and marketing. In 2003, he was named senior vice president of administration. Dickman has been a member of the board of directors since 1994, and will continue to serve on the new Harker's board.

Terry Gordon has been named vice president of sales. Gordon began his career with Harker's as a sales representative in 1983 in the company's Sioux Falls sales district. In 1993, he was promoted to district sales manager for South Dakota, and in 1999 was named the director of sales for the northern region.

Gordon, a native of Mitchell, S.D, holds a degree in business administration from Dakota State University in Madison.

Dan Vondrak has been appointed to the new position of chief financial officer. Prior to joining Harker's, he held a number of financial management positions, including 10 years with IBP inc., where he served as director of internal audit.

Vondrak, a a Sioux City native, received his undergraduate degree at Iowa State University and his M.B.A. from the University of South Dakota. Vondrak is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Randy Stoos is the vice president of operations. For many years, the Remsen, Iowa, native was the plant manager for Harker's Orange City, Iowa facility. After Tyson Foods' acquisition of Holly Farms in 1989, he served as a complex manager for Tyson through 1995, where he had multi-plant responsibility with the company's red meat processing division. Prior to joining Harker's in 2001, he was the vice president of operations for MPCA of Le Mars.

Jeff Kelly is the vice president of marketing and vendor development. Kelly worked in education until accepting a position as emissary manager for Gateway Inc.'s Vermillion call center. He joined Harker's as its manager of customer service in 1999, and was named director of marketing in 2002. He was promoted to his current position at Harker's in the spring of 2005.

A Le Mars native, Kelly received his undergraduate degree from Westmar College and his master of arts degree in education from the University of South Dakota.

Harker's also announced that Cheri Harker and Vicki Harker Philips have been named to the company's slate of officers. Harker sill serve as vice president and corporate counsel. A graduate of Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo., she earned her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn.

Harker Philips, a graduate of Iowa State University, will serve as vice president of brand development.

Harker's, the nation's largest specialty center-of-the-plate foodservice distributor, operates USDA-inspected processing facilities in Le Mars, Denver and Minneapolis, serving more than 12,000 customers in 14 Midwestern and Rocky Mountain states.
