WIT to offer cyber crime degree

Experts in the field of computer crime investigation will meet in Sioux City this week to develop a cyber crime investigations degree at Western Iowa Tech Community College.
The experts will spend today and Wednesday at the Clarion Hotel participating in session to define the competencies and skills in which students will be trained and which meet the needs of organizations attempting to deal with computer crime.
The scope of the program will include forensics investigation, computer and network security, behavioral sciences, business law and ethics. The two-year associate degree program is set to launch at WIT in the fall of 2007.
The content experts are Jeff Sypersma, Northwest Area Education Agency, Sioux City; Deb Hale, Long Lines, Sergeant Bluff; Scott Lanagan, Woodbury County Law Enforcement Center, Sioux City; Jason Allen, Sioux City Police Department -- Computer Crimes; Gary Sparks, Metropolitan Community College, Omaha; Mark Hinds, King Reinsch Prosser & Company, Sioux City; Doug Jacobson, Iowa State University, Ames.
