Shrine White Horse Mounted Patrol

The Abu Bekr Shrine White Horse Mounted Patrol last month held its installation of officers. The 2007 officers include:

President-Scott Van Eldik; Vice-President-Vern Dahlman; Treasurer-Neal Anthony; Secretary-Wayne Peterson; Business manager-Bill Thompson; Assistant business manager-Leon Bruns.

Line officers are: Sergeant-Dick Ludwig, Captain-Neal Anthony, First Lieutenant-Bill Thompson,Second Lieutenant-Curtis McCline.

The Abu Bekr Shrine White Horse Mounted Patrol maintains about 25 white haired, pink skin horses at the stables on Old Highway 141, Sergeant Bluff. The stable manager is David Hudson. The Patrol, formed in 1922, includes amateur riders who represent Abu Bekr Shrine and Siouxland at parades and shows across the nation.

The goal of the patrol is to bring the public's attention to the ''World's Greatest Philantrophy,'' Shriners Hospitals for Children.
