SIOUX CENTER, Iowa -- Dordt College's women's basketball team outscored Dakota Wesleyan 19-11 in overtime while winning an 87-79 Great Plains Athletic Conference contest Wednesday night.

Lindsey Van Wyk scored a season-high 30 points for Dordt (7-12, 5-5 GPAC), which has won two of its last three games. Van Wyk, who has averaged 22.3 points while leading Coach Glenn Bouma's Defenders in scoring during that stretch, is the club's lone double-figure scorer with a 15.9 average.

Van Wyk scored 10 points in overtime, including eight straight in a 10-0 run that gave Dordt an 80-71 lead with 57 seconds left.

Kate DuMez added 19 points for Dordt while Kara Karlsgodt had 10. McKinzie Schmidt grabbed nine rebounds while Van Wyk and Kelsie DeNooy each claimed eight.

stun No. 13 Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Mount Marty College's women's basketball team rallied from a 31-21 halftime deficit and upset No. 13-ranked Northwestern College 64-49 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference contest Tuesday night.

Carrie Ahlers scored 13 points and reserve Michelle Amundson added 12 for 24th-ranked Mount Marty (13-6, 7-3 GPAC), which held the Red Raiders scoreless in the final 3:04 of the first half.

The Lancers, who were ranked ninth last week, rallied from a 33-28 deficit to go on a 17-2 tear during a six-minute stretch in the second half. Amundson had five points and was among five Lancers to score in the run and from there, Coach Chuck Iverson's squad never trailed.

Northwestern (15-6, 8-3) shot just 21.1 percent in the second half, 38.1 percent for the game and committed 28 turnovers. Deb Remmerde led the Red Raiders with 15 points while Jaime Hoegh added 14.

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Defense was among the keys as Northwestern College's men's basketball team rolled to an 85-32 Great Plains Athletic Conference victory over Mount Marty Tuesday night.

Northwestern, which vaulted to 15th in the NAIA Division II rankings after wins over nationally-ranked Dakota Wesleyan University and Hastings last week, limited the Lancers to just 23.9 percent shooting. Mount Marty (8-13, 3-7 GPAC) trailed 47-19 at halftime and shot just 16 percent in the second half.

Kale Wiertzema led Northwestern (15-6, 8-3) with 14 points. Chad Schuiteman supplied 12 points, seven rebounds, five steals and four assists while Wade Vander Maten had 10 points.

Pat Anderson scored nine points for Mount Marty.
