Dance awards announced

Judging results from the Midwest Regional Dance , Drill and Flag Competition held Saturday at the South Sioux City High and Middle schools included the following awards to participants from Siouxland.

Nearly 1,300 contestants representing 81 squads from Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota and Kansas competed in the daylong event. :

Solo Winners

Pre Kindergarten through kindergarten --: First Runner Up tie, Holland Larned, Barbara Jean’s Studio, and Amber Aesoph, Sandy Keane’s Studio.

Grades four through six -- Winner, Emily McElwain, Dancing With Celeste; third runner up, Haley Hutton, 5-6-7-8 Dance.

Grades seven and eight -- Winner, Mackenzie Smith, Dancing With Celeste; fourth runner up, Tessa Hanna, Lawton-Bronson.

Grades nine and 10 -- Senior Solo Winner, Emily Marx, Sioux City East High School; second runner up, Rachel Thompson, Lawton-Bronson; third runner up, tie, Steffani Jiroux, Bishop Heelan High School, and Karina Kewel, Dakota Valley High School.

Grades 11 and 12 -- Senior Solo Winner, Jessie Marx, Sioux City East High School; third runner up, Kayla Lamoureaux, Sioux City East High School; fourth runner up, Taylor Shippen, independent.

Open Solo Winner -- Amanda Limoges No. 1, Sandy Keane’s Studio; first runner up, Amanda Limoges No. 2, Sandy Keane’s Studio

Ensemble Winners

Duets

Pre kindergarten through kindergarten -- Winner, Aesoph/Froechlish, Sandy Keane’s Studio; second runner up, Froehlich/Acevedo, Sandy Keane’s Studio.

Fourth through sixth grade -- Winner, Fisher/Rose, 5-6-7-8; first runner up, Blair/Froehlich, Sandy Keane’s Studio; second runner up, Hinrichsen/Vollmer, Sandy Keane’s Studio.

Junior Winner -- Smith/McElwain, Dancing With Celeste.
