Catholic Schools announces 'License to Auction 2007'

Posted: Tuesday, March 13, 2007
Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools Monday announced plans for this year's dinner, auction and dance "License to Auction 2007."

The event will be April 14 at the Sioux City Convention Center. Rob and Angie Heller are this year's chair couple.

The annual spring event is touted as the "social event of the year" thanks in part to the support of Catholic school friends and supporters. Last year a record $575,000 was raised.

Tickets for "License to Auction 2007" will be $75 per person. The goal this year is $300,000. Proceeds from event are targeted toward academics, technology and vocal and instrumental music. This year's fund-a-cause will be the Teacher Salary Endowment Fund. Proceeds will be placed in this fund to provide quality compensation for teachers.

Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools will once again hold two drawings: A lime green ticket for $100 for the chance to win a 2007 automobile from Art Silva Lincoln-Mercury-Toyota-Scion or Condon Auto Sales and a pink ticket for $25 or five for $100 for the chance to win $5,000 in cash, a $2,500 BHCS tuition voucher and $1,000 in Hy-Vee gift cards.

There will be a variety of auction items available, including vacations to Florida, the Black Hills and more; a 1968 Volkswagen convertible; a commemorative Masters golf bag autographed by Michael Jordan; "Play Like a Champion" Notre Dame sign autographed by Ara Parseghian; religious artwork and sport adventures to the St. Louis Cardinals, Creighton Blue Jays and others.

The evening will be capped off with the popular band On the Fritz. For more information on attending, donating an item or sponsoring "License to Auction 2007," call Mimi Wieck at 252-1350.
