4:20 PM

Posted: Wednesday, March 14, 2007
The First Nations Outreach Center will be conducting a twelve-session program that aims to help Native American men become better fathers.

The program Fatherhood is Sacred begins Thursday at 6 p.m. and will be then held on the same day and time at the First Nations Center at 804 W. 7th St.

The program urges Native American fathers to explore their heritage, know the importance of their relationships and understand the sacredness of fatherhood.

Sessions will be facilitated by Sioux City residents Anthony Yellowbank Sr. and Robert Rouillard. Both are recent Fatherhood is Sacred graduates and have received training by the Native American Fatherhood and Family Association in Mesa, Ariz.

The program is sponsored by the Sioux City Indian Education Committee and the Healthy Marriage Education and Enhancement Program.

Refreshments may be served and transportation could become available in the near future.

For information, please call Anthony Yellowbank at (712) 212-8949, Robert Rouillard at (712) 212-6276 or the Office of Indian Education (712) 252-0811.
