Schuiteman picked first-team Division II All-American

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Chad Schuiteman, a 6-6 junior forward from the Northwestern College men's basketball team, is one of three repeat first-teamers on the NAIA Division II All-American squad that has been released.
Schuiteman, a former Sioux Center (Iowa) High School standout, joins Alex Kock (Huntington) and Michael Bonaparte (College of the Ozarks) as repeat first-teamers.
Schuiteman averaged 14.5 points and 13 rebounds in four games as Coach Kris Korver's Red Raiders reached the Final Four at the Division II national tournanment held at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo. A two-time first-team Great Plains Athletic Conference selection, Schuiteman was the tournament's top rebounder for a squad that ended a 26-9 season with an 81-71 loss in Monday night's semifinals to eventual national champion MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.).
Schuiteman had averages of 16.2 points and 10.5 rebounds this season for the Red Raiders, who made their ninth consecutive national tournament appearance. He shot 54.1 percent from the field, 69.6 percent from the free throw line and also led the GPAC co-champions with 167 assists.
Kock, a 6-5 senior forward from Huntington (Ind.), was named the NAIA Division II player of the year. The Auburn, Ind., native averaged 23.4 points and 10 rebounds for a 29-5 squad that was upset 67-64 in the first round of the national tournament to Florida Memorial.
Bonaparte, a 6-5 senior forward, averaged 24 points and nine rebounds for Ozarks, which fell 73-57 to Northwestern in the quarterfinals. The native of Grande Valley, Grenada, was held to three points and five rebounds in the defeat.
Mid America Nazarene, a 78-60 winner over Mayville State (N.D.) in Tuesday night's championship game, was represented on the first team by 6-foot junior guard Adam Hepker, a Maquoketa, Iowa, native who was the national tournament's second-leading scorer with 90 points in five games for an 18-point average.
Brock Seim, a 6-6 senior guard from Dakota Wesleyan, was a first-team selection. The LeGrand, Iowa, native led the GPAC with a 23.8 scoring average and was second with an 8.5 rebound average.
Doane College's Brent Cole, a 6-7 senior forward from Auburn, Neb., was a second-team pick. Cole ranked second in the GPAC in scoring (23.0 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (7.3).
The GPAC had two third-team selections; Dylan Kvaale (15.7 ppg), a 6-5 senior forward from Sioux Falls and Jon Ziegler (21.3 ppg, 7.4 rpg), a 6-2 senior guard from Concordia.
Northwestern's Curt Schilling and Morningside College's Jack Rother each won honorable mention All-America honors.
Schilling, a 6-4 junior forward, averaged 14.5 points and led the Red Raiders with 76 three-point baskets.
Rother, a 6-3 junior guard, led Morningside with a 19.1 scoring average and was the team's leading scorer in 20 of 32 games. He shot 83.4 percent from the free throw line and his 50.6 field goal percentage included 48 three-pointers.
