Posted: Saturday, March 24, 2007
NORFOLK, Neb. -- Randall Sigle has been named training project coordinator for a statewide ethanol training initiative that will be offered at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
Sigle, currently general manager of Creative Technologies Inc., in Lincoln, will begin his duties at NECC on April 2. He will report to Chuck Pohlman, dean of agriculture, health and sciences at NECC and the project director.
As the coordinator, Sigle will help manage the three-year, $2 million Community-Based Job Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The funds will be used to develop and implement ethanol training programs throughout the six-school Nebraska community college system.
The training will lead to a dual-credit program for high school students and a two-year associate of applied science degree for ethanol production and management (which could be applied to a bachelor's degree). It will also include several short-term training courses for current ethanol employees.
Sigle will also work closely with the colleges and industry leaders to meet the personnel needs of Nebraska's growing ethanol production industry. He will be responsible for promotion of the project, coordination of its advisory committee and the preparation of reports. He will also disseminate project-related information and research, and recommend technology and equipment needed for the project.
In addition, Sigle will serve as a liaison with campus-based ethanol project coordinators at the other five community colleges and as staff support to the Statewide Renewable Energy Advisory Board.
Sigle holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Abilene (Texas) Christian University and a master's degree in business management from Bellevue University. He has taught business classes as an adjunct instructor at Hamilton College in Lincoln since 2003.
He brings over 20 years' of upper managerial experience and a strong professional background in the ethanol industry to his job at NECC. He has also held managerial positions at Command Labor and Staffing and Senior Technologies-Stanley Works, both of Lincoln, and Mycogen-Dow AgroScience and High Plains Ethanol (now Abengoa BioEnergy), both at York, Neb.
