Adams Homestead to host 'Animals as Architects'
Posted: Tuesday, April 24, 2007
NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. n Why do beavers build dams? Why do moles burrow underground? Visitors to Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve can find the answers to these two questions and many more about animals and their building skills.
All ages are welcome and encouraged to visit the new education annex to explore the 15 hands-on activities that are part of the “Animals and Architects” traveling exhibit that will be at Adams Homestead May 1 through 31.
“This is the first exhibit we will be hosting in the community room of the new education annex,” said Jody Moats naturalist for Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve. “This is a very exciting time at Adams Homestead. With the new education annex we now have room to not only host traveling exhibits and speakers, but also to accommodate large groups. We already have an increase in the number of school groups visiting this spring.”
Money was donated to bring this exhibit to Adams Homestead by the Loess Hills Audubon Society, Friends of the North Sioux City Library, the North Sioux City Library and the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
There is no cost to visit the exhibit and no park entrance license is needed. For more information, call Adams Homestead at (605) 232-0873.
