Hard rock band Tool coming to Tyson
Posted: Wednesday, May 02, 2007
Hard rock band Tool will perform at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena June 25.
Composed of lead singer Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, bassist Justin Chancellor and drummer Danny Carey, Tool's breakthrough was introducing dark, vaguely underground metal to art rock.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. May 12. Tickets start at $39.50. Reserved seating will be available.
Tool slipped into the definition of alternative rock during the post-Nirvana era, landing a slot on the third Lollapalooza tour in 1993, which helped its first full-length debut album, "Undertow," attain platinum status.
By the time the band delivered its follow-up, "Aenima," in 1996, alternative rock had lost its grip on the mainstream of America, and its audience had shaped up as essentially metal-oriented. The album debuted at No. 2 on the charts.
During the band's hiatus between albums, Keenan formed a side project, dubbed A Perfect Circle. The band's 2000 debut, "Mer de Noms," was a surprise hit. Its ensuing tour sold-out.
In May 2001 Tool released its third full-length album, "Lateralus," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and became the band's biggest hit. After a sabbatical to pursue other projects, the group returned with another chart-topper, "10,000 Days," in 2006.
Tickets are available at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at (712) 252-3434 (Sioux City), (605) 334-8181 (Sioux Falls), 402-422-1212 (Omaha).
