Mel Brooks' hilarious musical comedy, "The Producers," and the beloved Broadway classic, "Annie," will highlight the 2007-2008 Broadway at the Orpheum Season.
The season also will feature "Ring of Fire;" "Evita," "Rent" and a special addition, "Cirque Dream Jungle Fantasy."
"We have assembled a truly spectacular season for Sioux City," said Steve Traxler, president of Jam Theatricals. "With award winning productions like 'The Producers' and 'Rent,' new shows like 'Ring of Fire' and 'Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy' and Broadway classics like 'Annie' and 'Evita,' this season in Sioux City cannot be missed."
"The Producers" is based on Mel Brooks' Academy Award-winning 1968 film of the same name. The musical swept the 2001 Tony awards, receiving the most awards in Broadway history.
"Annie, " the timeless tale of Little Orphan Annie, is back giving a whole new generation the chance to experience this classic musical. It boasts one of Broadway's most memorable scores, including "It's the Hard-Knock Life," "Easy Street," "N.Y.C." and the ever-optimistic "Tomorrow."
Johnny Cash, the legendary "Man in Black" comes to life in the new Broadway musical, "Ring of Fire," using 38 of Cash's signature songs including "Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues" and, of course, "Ring of Fire."
"Evita," winner of seven Tony awards, brings to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron. One of the most popular collaborations between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, this legendary musical features the memorable song "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina."
"Cirque Dream Jungle Fantasy" is a special addition to the season. It features an international cast of graceful aerialists, spine bending contortionists, strong men and balancers.
The winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize, "Rent" has made a lasting mark on Broadway with songs that rock and a story that resonates. Inspired by Puccini's "La Bohme," "Rent" celebrates young artists as they struggle with the soaring hopes and tough realities of today's world.
