Jones offers 'personality' program

Two Edward Jones financial advisors will host two broadcast presentations, one a program for investors, the other a course for professionals. Both will be available at local Edward Jones offices.

"How Your Personality Can Affect Your Portfolio's Performance" is free and will be shown at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Participants can learn how their behaviors may influence the overall performance of their investments, and how knowing this can potentially help them avoid mistakes.

The broadcast features Edward Jones and special guest and investor behavior expert Terrance Odean, of the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.

The professional course, titled "Employment Law Challenges and Solutions for Business Owners," is for attorneys, CPAs and tax professionals. It will focus on workplace regulation issues most frequently encountered by business owners. It is approved for three credit hours of continuing professional education and continuing legal education for attorneys, CPAs and tax professionals.

Among topics covered are: hiring and firing do's and don'ts; freedom of expression in the workplace; violence in the workplace; restrictive covenants; occupation safety; discrimination that violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964; Fair Labor Standards Act; Immigration Reform and Control Act; Age Discrimination in Employment Act; and Americans with Disabilities At.

It will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The course is $60 and includes admission for one persona and all course materials.The programs are available over the firm's private video network.
