A 'grotesque mistake' ?

Posted: Monday, June 25, 2007
Addressing the liberal pressure group Campaign for America's Future last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the war in Iraq a "tragedy" and a "grotesque mistake." On the same day, the Gallup organization released a poll showing that the approval rating for Congress is currently at an all-time low of 14 percent, down from 19 percent last year. It looks to me like Pelosi and the do-nothing Democrat Congress is a "grotesque mistake."

" It's your opinion, DB, not reality. That's what Patti is trying to point out. And just because you think a majority shares your opinion, it isn't necessarily so. Remember, at one time the general consensus was the world was flat. Just because a lot of people thought that way, it didnt make it so. "

" Your hypocrisy is still there. I was just pointing out to you that you talk about diminishing the line between parties, but in the same breath you are playing sides. "

" Patti, sorry dear: this is not one nation under anyone's god, your sloganeering to the contrary, and stop trying to blame Democrats for Republican problems. And pointing out unpleasant facts about the Cheney--sorry, Bush--administration is not bashing, it's just reality. Deal with it, please. "

" Patti is right. We hear outrage the all the time when someone like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill OReilly or, God forbid, Ann Coulter dares to comment on some liberal, yet the left bashes the President, the Vice-President and anyone else on the right with impunity. While it does not good for either side to throw these verbal bombs, there must be acknowledgement of it on BOTH sides before we can get back to civil discourse. Keep in mind, this kind of thing has been going on in US elections since the beginning of time. If you do your research, there have been worse things said during campaigns. "

" I believe the "bashing" the President has taken from the Democratic party needs to stop, based on their collective votes to go into this war. That is what my "bashing" of the Democrats involves. BOTH parties have their good points AND their bad points ... but if we don't bring out the best in one another, we have no chance but to devour one another. Really, listen to the media and you will hear the munch, munch, munching away at our United States - One nation - Under God ... isn't that what the forefathers intended ??? Maybe if they concentrated on the GOOD the parties and politicians are doing we wouldn't all be so disenchanted and feel so hopeless ... and we might look forward to an election year for once. "
