Sioux City schools roll in Heelan Classic

Three Sioux City schools posted impressive prep baseball victories Sunday in the Heelan Classic at Lewis and Clark Park.
North, East and West rolled to victories before host Bishop Heelan met Storm Lake in a late night game.
Eighth-ranked Class 4A North, now 29-6, topped Sergeant Bluff-Luton, 12-3; East zipped past Harlan, 17-6; and senior Dustin Wauhob pitched a two-hit shutout to spark West to a 7-0 blanking of Storm Lake.
Wauhob struck out eight and issued just one walk as the Wolverines improved to 19-14.
East improved its record to 24-12.
Corby McGlauflin was the winning pitcher for North, improving to 6-2 with a seven-hitter that included three strikeouts. East's Nick Lanning also improved his record to 6-2 by scattering five Harlan hits in five innings and striking out five.
East bashed 20 hits in its win and North banged out 15 hits in the win over SB-L.
Scott Lahn led the East hit parade with two doubles, a single and four RBIs and Wes Angerman had a triple, double and single. Reese Sudtelgte chipped in with two hits and two RBIs, Andy Compton a two-run single, Skyler Stilwell tripled and singled and Jared Barth had two hits and an RBI.
Billy Meacham tagged an RBI triple and RBI double for North and teammate Matt Negaard laced three hits and drove in three runs.
The Stars broke the game open with five runs in the seventh inning.
Damek Tomscha, Max Martin stroked two hits each for the Stars and Brian Wanner tagged an RBI triple and Mike Tillo an RBI double.
Johnny Saar, the losing pitcher, had two hits, including a double. Jordan Huffman also doubled and singled for the Warriors and Derek Moore lashed an RBI triple.
West collected seven hits off Storm Lake pitcher Ben Seaman, one of them a two-run homer by Alex Jones in the sixth inning.
Travis Hanson had two hits and two RBIs for the Wolverines and Dylan McClary also singled twice. Mike McCabe laced an RBI single for Storm Lake in the first and Dallas Eddie singled off Wauhob in the third.
East returns to action Tuesday, playing Johnston (1 p.m.) and Council Bluffs Lewis Central (3 p.m.) in a pair of games at Lewis Central.
North hosts South Sioux City Post 307 Tuesday.
West plays at Le Mars tonight (7:30).
