He's 'very happy' living life as an atheist

Posted: Wednesday, July 18, 2007
CHEROKEE, Iowa -- This is a response to the July 14 column by Kathy Yoder headlined “Living Without God Can Make You Sad.” The title implies that if you do not believe in God, you are a sad person.

I believe that one does not have to worship a god to lead a life motivated by ethical behavior, optimism and compassion. That is what I am doing, as an atheist.

By the way, I’m 82 years old and am very happy. -- Harry Brink

" I think we just need to get the "HEAVEN AND HELL" Concert tour to stop through town. I think this discussion can be remedied by sitting down Ronnie James Dio and MEGADETH'S newly reborn Christian founder Dave Mustiane to debate it out. I figure since Dave is reborn and all you have to do is be reborn to be an "EXPERT" on the bible and god, plus he spent years singing about the DEVIL so what better expert to go againt Ronnie James Dio the creator of the "Demon Horns". " Harry is almost to the finish line with just a few more miles to go. Even though hes exhausted after running a lifelong race, he still has a little oomph left to get him to the proverbial finish line. He has no doubt that hell get there because hes come this far without any help from God. He prides himself that he doesnt have to believe in God or worship him to be happy or to be thoughtful, kind and understanding with others. Hes fought for his country, raised a family and took care of an ailing wife without complaining. Hes a good example to friends, neighbors and even strangers. His thoughtfulness wasnt motivated by ethical behavior, optimism and compassion. He just did it all on his own. How sad for Harry when he crosses the finish line and realizes that he didnt do it on his own. Whats more heartbreaking is that he refused the greatest gift that was ever given to him. The only thing required of him [and all the non-believing readers of this blog] is to BELIEVE. "

" At 82 you only have a few more years before it's all over and your life ment nothing. I mean really think about it, you are going to end, and you mean nothing after words. Sorry to hear that. But since God beleives in you, I'll pray for you. "
