David's Bridal, the nation's only national bridal retailer, intends to open its first Sioux City store later this year, a representative for the company confirmed Friday.

An opening is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 5 at Lakeport Commons. The bridal shop is expected to occupy about 6,300 square feet in "Building Z'' a multi-tenant building in the middle of the commercial center, according to officials with general contractor Brown Construction.

David's Bridal will be located on the west side of Building Z, one spot down from Maurice's new store, and just around the corner from the new Buffalo Wild Wings.

The nation's largest retail chain specializing in bridal gowns, David's Bridal also sells veils, bridal accessories and gifts, as well as apparel for formal occasions, according to its Web site.

The Conshohocken, Pa.-based chain has 275 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The closest David's Bridals to Sioux City are currently in Sioux Falls, Omaha and Lincoln, Neb.

Formerly a division of Federated Department Stores, now Macy's. Inc., David's Bridal was sold in early 2007 to an affiliate of Leonard Green & Partners for about $750 million.
