Coon goal gives Dordt

soccer men 2-OT victory

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Ryan Coon's unassisted goal in the second overtime gave Dordt College's men's soccer team a 3-2 win over Waldorf Saturday.

Dordt (2-0) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to get second-period unassisted goals from Andrew Wubben and Siam Grobler. The Defenders outshot Waldorf 16-10.

Winning goalkeeper Jordan Huisken had three saves.

Janssen, Wieking lead

NWC soccer men to win

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Andy Janssen and Blake Wieking each recorded two goals Saturday afternoon while leading Northwestern College's men's soccer team to a 6-1 rout of Jamestown College.

Northwestern (2-0) scored all of its goals in the second half. Kyle Heynen and Aaron O'Brien each tallied one goal while Steven Grand had two assists for a squad that outshot Jamestown 33-7.

Winning goalkeeper Mike Van Engen recorded three saves.

YANKTON, S.D. -- Emily Rasmussen led a balanced hitting attack with 13 kills as Mount Marty's volleyball team evened their season record to 1-1 with a 22-30, 30-16, 13-30, 30-22, 15-11 win over Grace Saturday.

Tara Adamson had 12 kills for the Lancers while Abby Haiar added 11. Haiar also dished 39 assists.

Krista Hohn topped the defense with five blocks, one more than Rasmussen. Carly Benson had 18 digs.

Trinity downs Northwestern

ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- Nicole Collins scored her fifth goal of the young season Saturday afternoon as 14th-ranked Trinity International clipped Northwestern College's women's soccer team 3-1.

Northwestern (0-1) took a 1-0 lead at the 13:29 mark of the first period as Allise Vugteveen scored on a breakaway, courtesy of a Macy Rozeboom assist. Three minutes later, Trinity tied the match as Serena Bjurlin recorded the first of her two assists.

Northwestern was outshot 21-7. Losing goalkeeper Kelley Salem had 10 saves.

Cardinals clipped

in tennis opener

BEATRICE, Neb. -- Beatrice edged South Sioux City 5-4 in the boys tennis opener for both teams here Saturday.

South Sioux City's Nic Peters won the No. 1 singles match and Alex Bahney was victorious at No. 2 while Jon Pfeifer prevailed at No. 3 singles.

Peters and Bahney, meanwhile, teamed to win the No. 1 doubles match.
