Swift Kick, an education company that focuses on bridging the gap between technology and engagement, will host a lecture on both the dangers and advantages of using the social networking Web sites MySpace and Facebook during an event at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in the Yockey Family Community Room of the Olsen Student Center.

The public is invited to the free event, which is sponsored by Morningside’s Academic and Cultural Arts Series and the Morningside Activities Council.

The overwhelming majority of today’s college students are on either MySpace or Facebook, said Swift Kick co-founder Tom Krieglstein.

Swift Kick compares these Web sites to a "megaphone in your glass bedroom" and points out both the dangers and benefits that come with everyone seeing what you do.

This company also created Red Rover, a tool that lets schools tap into the power of MySpace and Facebook for orientation and recruitment.
