Youth Chorus plans fall auditions

Posted: Tuesday, September 18, 2007
The Siouxland Youth Chorus will hold fall auditions for the 2007-08 season from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. All Siouxland girls and boys with unchanged voices in grades 4-8 who have an interest in singing are encouraged to audition.

The Siouxland Youth Chorus is made up of Siouxland singers in grades 4 to 8, and offers both vocal training and performance opportunities for them.

The Siouxland Youth Chorus made its debut with the Sioux City Symphony on Dec. 15, 1990, and has also performed with the The American Boy Choir, John Denver, and the Sioux City Municipal Band. The choruses have performed for the Iowa Music Educators Conference, the Iowa Choral Directors Association Summer Symposium, and have traveled to music festivals in Minneapolis, Kansas City, Chicago, Toronto, Estes Park, Denver, Colorado Springs, Dallas, Anaheim and Philadelphia. The chorus hosts its own children's choir festival in May called KIDZSING.

The Siouxland Youth Chorus has three choirs: the Concert Choir, the Cadet Choir and the Singing Juniors, and is directed by Dr. Shirley Luebke.

To schedule an audition, or for more information, call (712) 276-9296.
