Nine join Sioux Center office Northwest AEA staff

Several new employees have joined the staff of Northwest Area Education Agency in its Sioux Center office.

Sherri Anderson was hired as special education consultant. She will provide specialized evaluation, instruction and consultative services required to meet the unique educational needs of students who are experiencing educational difficulty.

Anderson holds a master's degree as a professional educator, and a bachelor's degree in elementary education, both from Morningside College.

Onna Bartlett was hired as an occupational therapist. She will provide specialized evaluation, instruction and consultative services required to meet the unique educational needs of students with fine motor and related impairments.

Bartlett holds a master's degree from the University of South Dakota.

As a school/family/community liaison, Brenda Langstraat-Janisch will provide services to students who are experiencing educational difficulties within the social, emotional and behavioral realms. Langstraat-Janisch, who has worked as a psychotherapist for the past five years, holds a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Northern State University, and a bachelor's degree in social work from Northwestern College.

Six employees have been hired to work in the instructional pool program. They provide educational or medical services to individual students in schools on a regular basis: Christy Alquist is a teacher in Paullina; Nicole Duin is a LPN/paraeducator in Rock Rapids; Sheila Garrett is a paraeducator in Hartley; Caprice Huffman is a teacher at Rock Valley High School; Jennifer Van Zanten is a LPN/paraeducator in Rock Valley; and Shawn Packard is a teacher at Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn.

Northwest Area Education Agency serves public and accredited private schools in a 10-county area of Northwest Iowa, providing special education support services, media and technology services, instructional services and professional development .
