Time to renew snowmobile, ATV registrations
Posted: Monday, October 29, 2007
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Woodbury County Treasurer's Office reminds the public that it is time to renew snowmobile and ATV registrations.
Registrations are due by Dec. 31 to avoid a $5 late fee.
Beginning in November, Woodbury DNR will be utilizing the IDNR's Electronic Licensing System to register the vehicles. The process utilizes the same system used to sell hunting and fishing licenses, a process with which many snowmobile and ATV owners are familiar.
Also beginning this year, owners may register and title off-road vehicles, or ORV, such as the John Deere Gator or Kawasaki Mule. ORVs that are not being used strictly for agriculture purposes must be registered if they will be used on public grounds, including for ice fishing. Titling of ORVs is optional.
Owners are asked to bring the following information when renewing registrations: the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), make of the machine, IDNR customer number (found on hunting and fishing licenses), driver's license number and/or Social Security number.
For more information, visit the IDNR Web site at www.iowadnr.com/law/atv/index.html or contact the Woodbury County DNR at 822 Douglas St. at 279-6492 or the Little Courthouse in Anthon at 373-5238.
