Oskaloosa attorney appointed 8th District judge

DES MOINES (AP) -- Gov. Chet Culver has appointed an Oskaloosa attorney as a judge in Iowa's 8th District.
Joel Yates will fill a vacancy created when Judge Dan F. Morrison retired after 24 years.
The 8th District includes Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Monroe, Poweshiek, Van Buren, Wapello and Washington counties.
As part of his private practice, Yates also has served as city attorney for What Cheer and Delta. He also occasionally helps the city of Sigourney.
