Ron Paul: A vote for restoring rights and freedoms

Posted: Friday, November 16, 2007
SIOUX CITY -- An illegal and immoral war breaking our economy. Domestic surveillance approved. Property rights stolen. Torture (if you don't agree, have yourself waterboarded). Collapse of the dollar. Inflation, stagflation, recession (dare I say coming depression?). Being an independent, I vote my conscience, not my party. And I wonder what happened to my beloved country. When did we stop being outraged by this tyranny being foisted on us? When are the good people going to stand up and shout "enough is enough!"?

The Centrist Democrats and Neo-Con Republicans are just the same party with different faces. Anyone who doesn't immediately see that is not politically informed. Do people really believe that the Democratic majority in the Ccongress letting the criminal activity pass is an accident? Oh how we hoped for change when we voted them in.

I remember when the folks older than myself used to speak truth to power. Where have they gone? Are they really gonna vote for Mitt Romney or Gulianni or Hillary? I want them to wake up. There is nothing good in any of the major candidates - certainly nothing worth voting for except more of the same.

Myself, I will vote for Ron Paul. Bring the troops home. Back the dollar with the gold standard again. Restore the rights and freedoms that made America a shining beacon for the world. Stop these power-mad criminals from destroying everything I was taught to love and respect about my country. Stop living in fear. Transparency in government again. Accountability. Jobs. It could be so much better than it is now. -- Carrie Verbeski

The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." " jwk--Thanks! I certainly hope you will show up at the caucus for Ron Paul. And bring a friend. We'll be there too. Viva Dr. No! "

" Liberal--I enjoy our discourse. I have a lot of friends who consider themselves liberals, and I always find it interesting to debate the issues with them. As they like to say--a mind is like a parachute, it only functions when it's open. I certainly don't imagine that I will persuade you to vote for Dr. Paul, but I hope that I can persuade you to read the founding documents, along with the federalist and anti-federalist papers. No matter what your political leaning, it's good stuff. "

" Carrie, good article along with informative follow-up. I am a Democrat who has had his eye on Ron Paul for some time now. I was considering switching parties that I could vote him in the caucus. "
