Hull man arrested on identity theft and forgery charges

A Hull, Iowa, man was arrested Monday in Sioux County on felony charges of identity theft and forgery.

The Sioux County Sheriff's office arrested Bernardo Vargas-Cazares, 20, of Hull at 7:20 a.m. Monday during a traffic stop. According to the sheriff's office, Vargas-Cazares false impersonated himself to a deputy and was driving while his driving privileges were suspended in Iowa. The sheriff's office said further investigation showed that Vargas-Cazares was using another person's name and social security number for employment at Van Voorst Concrete in Hull.

Vargas-Cazares was charged with identity theft and forgery, both class D felonies. He was also charged with interference with official acts, driving while suspended and no insurance on a motor vehicle. He was booked into the Sioux County Jail.
