Holiday Lighting Contest deadline extended

The deadline for entering this year's Make-A-Wish Holiday Lighting Contest has been extended to 5 p.m. Friday. Contest entries will be judged starting at 6 p.m. Monday.
"The number of entries received so far is quite low," said Curt Stoever, chair of the lighting contest committee. He added, "Hopefully, this will give people some extra time to get their entries in."
The contest has three divisions: home lighting, neighborhood lighting and the Clark Griswold competition.
Home lighting contest winners are named in six districts: The East, North and West High School districts in Sioux City; Sergeant Bluff; South Sioux City and Dakota City; Dakota Dunes, North Sioux City and McCook Lake.
Contest rules and entry forms have been published in the Journal during the last three weeks. Completed entry forms should be mailed to Make-A-Wish Holiday Lighting Contest, 413 W. Clifton Ave., Sioux City, Iowa 51104. Entry forms may be requested by e-mailing Stoever at Stoever1@aol.com. For more information, call Stoever at (712) 258-5968.
All entrants are asked to send a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation along with their entry. Entrants in the Clark Griswold competition are asked to donate $25 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Donations will fund wishes for Siouxland youngsters battling life-threatening medical conditions.
