St. Luke's honors volunteers at banquet
Posted: Wednesday, December 12, 2007
St. Luke's volunteers were honored at a recent banquet at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center.
The volunteers were treated to dinner, entertained by the Eclectix -- a vocal jazz group from Morningside College -- and presented with awards to mark their achievements. The evening concluded with dessert and coffee in St. Luke's Atrium.
A volunteer force of 300 adults and teens contributes more than 30,000 hours of service to St. Luke's each year. Volunteers deliver mail, visit with patients, do clerical projects, work with the pet therapy program, knit baby caps and other items, paint memory boxes, escort patients, host patients and families and staff the gift shop and information desk among other activities.
Only those volunteers who participated from Oct. 1, 2006, to Sept. 30, 2007, are listed. Volunteers receive certificates, pins or bars to designate hours, with those achieving a new level in 2007 noted by an asterisk. Volunteers and their hours of service are:
