BABSON PARK, Fla. -- Briar Cliff University's men's basketball team has learned plenty of things while spending the majority of their season on the road.
Among the lessons is getting off to a good start. Coach Todd Barry's Chargers took a 34-21 halftime lead en route to a 62-52 win over Webber International University Thursday night.
Briar Cliff (9-5) shot just 40.6 percent in the first half. However, the Chargers, now 8-4 away from the Newman Flanagan Center, limited Webber International to 21.7 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.
The Chargers snapped a two-game losing streak. Neil Rohe was 7 of 10 from the field while scoring a game-high 16 points.
Rohe, who entered the game shooting a team-leading 56.8 percent, reached double-figure scoring for the 13th time this season. Briar Cliff has a 3-1 record when the 6-3 senior forward from Le Mars, Iowa, is the team's leading scorer.
Kurt Webb added 14 points and made three of the Chargers' five three-point baskets.
Chesmon Evans, Jermaine Miller and Halston Schaffer each scored 10 points as Webber International (4-8) suffered its fourth straight loss.
Briar Cliff is idle until Dec. 28 when it plays a 7:30 p.m. game against Peru State at the Briar Cliff Tournament.
