PIERRE, S.D. (AP) -- Eight South Dakota cities and towns will impose new taxes or update their existing municipal taxes, effective Jan. 1, the state Division of Revenue and Regulation says.
Here are the changes, according to the state agency:
Salem, Clear Lake, Gregory and Garretson begin a 1 percent bed, board and booze tax. The city sales tax in those communities is now 2 percent.
The bed, board and booze tax is a tax on alcoholic beverages, eating establishments, lodging accommodations and ticket sales and admissions to places of amusement or athletic and cultural events.
Ward will start 2 percent city sales tax, and Mound City is raising its city sales tax to 2 percent.
Frederick and Morristown will start collecting a 1 percent city sales tax.
