Geary undergoes emergency appendectomy

SIOUX CITY -- Councilman Jason Geary underwent an emergency appendectomy at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center, City Manager Paul Eckert said this afternoon.
Geary, speaking by cell phone from his hospital bed, said he went to the emergency room Saturday after suffering worsening abdominal pain Friday and Saturday morning. Tests were inclusive and he underwent exploratory surgery Saturday afternoon, and the surgeon removed his appendix. He said he hoped to be discharged tonight.
