Abortion: 'The greatest injustice of our time'

Posted: Wednesday, January 23, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- Monday marked the 35th tragic anniversary of legalized abortion in the U.S.A. Over 50 million of our young people have been denied life due to the legal acceptance of this law of the land.

I consider abortion the greatest injustice of our time. Abortion is part of the culture of death which has caused increased violence and disregard for all human life, born and unborn.

Sioux City has experienced a couple tragic examples of this since we started this year. We are still mourning the loss of some innocent victims of bizarre deaths. Our heartfelt sorrow goes out to the victims' families as we are all affected by these front-page stories.

In another part of town, behind closed doors to the public eye, on scheduled dates not generally known, abortions take place in Sioux City. Sometimes 10, sometimes 20 unborn children are eliminated because this nation allowed a mother the "right to choose" life or death for her own child.

Is it any wonder why we see an increasing disregard for life? Strange that we have no media coverage for the tiny babies. The chain of life, under God's law, is broken. It's not front-page news.

We can all curse the darkness or join others on Sunday at Central Baptist Church to unite all Christians in prayer to defend life. The annual Pro-Life Interfaith Prayer service will begin at 1:30 p.m. Begin this year with a greater love for God's gift of life. Let's make a difference. -- Marge Stanek

" I apparently have too much to say because I have to cut my paragraphs short and forget where I left off...

The beginning of my last two paragraphs began with:

Thank you but, please don't feel sorry for me. The rest was addressed to Peggy, Marge and all the others that fall in the same catagory.

Have they spent time with these abused women/girls, have the volunteered their time to help investagate the unsolved rape cases?, have you adopted a rape baby, etc. What have you done to help???? From what you write all I hear is judgement. "

" You are quick to judge but when you meet your maker and he/she asked what have you done to help these women, and all you can say I spent my energy judging them do you think you will still end up in a better place than me? "

" I don't think so. As for me...yes, I had an abortion and I do go to church...maybe even your church...I do volunteer my time in the community....I volunteer with CMN, I am a Girl Scout leader for two troops...one for which I have no daughter of my own...they just needed another leader, I participate in a after school program for girls at a local school...I make sure the older people in my neighborhood are taken care of....mow their lawns shovel their sidewalks...buy them food...run them to the dr's....because some how their own family's have forgotten they need help...would you like me to go on??? Do you think women that have abortions are cold heart and don't care about life??? Again, you are wrong. You can not judge everyone for their actions. Yes, women/girls choose this as a way out but, begin raped and not given a choice to say no...is not fair! "

" to raped: I am so sorry for your pain. I too am a survivor of rape, it happened over 30 years ago while in college but fortunately, I did not get pregnant. Only those of us who have experienced this truly know the extent of the fear and distrust that lingers for years. However, Peggy and Marge and those like them don't really care about us, they only care about the "baby". I think they believe that having that child will miraculously solve everything. They know so little. "

" I see part 2 and 3 were left out. I guess it was too graphic to be allowed on the page? This is sad...maybe people that have never been raped would understand the horrible trama a women goes through!

If the people at the paper could edit part 2 and 3 to allow it to be read...I won't mind. I want people to know what it feels like at that moment and the rest of your life. "
