'Universal, socialized health care': A 'crazy' idea
Posted: Wednesday, January 30, 2008
ALTON, Iowa -- Why do the Brits and Canadians come to the United States for their health care needs? Because they have socialized, i.e. government-run health care. More than likely, they don't want to take the chance of dying while they wait six months for the care or treatment they need.
(Big) government has never done anything more effectively or efficiently than the private sector. What has government done lately to save Social Security? And how many billions are we spending on education now without seeing any positive results?
Ideology and ideologues are fine, for utopia. But this is the real world. A huge, and most certainly, bungled, burdensome, boondoggle department of universal, socialized health care is crazy.
This United States didn't become great with high taxes and government handouts. Quite the opposite.
In the real world, socialism in any form has failed, always.
Ronald Reagan said," Government does not solve problems. It subsidizes them." How long can a country survive with more and more taxes, and high taxes, before it goes bankrupt?
We're close to choosing such a path if the majority of us don't wake up and think. -- Sid Jacobsma
