LASIK contest open to Iowans

Posted: Sunday, March 09, 2008
Iowans have a chance to see the world without glasses or contacts by telling their story through Wolfe's Eye Clinic's ''Tell Us What You Want to See'' contest.

Iowans who haven't had LASIK surgery can submit their story in video or text format to {M7www.seetheworldwithwolfe.com, where finalists will be determined by a Wolfe Eye Clinic designated panel of judges. Contestants need to answer the following three questions in their submission: What do they want to see better? Where in the world do they want to go? How can LASIK vision correction make a difference in their life?

Stories will be judged originality, style, ability to communicate and the compelling nature of the story.  All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on April 11. Finalists will be posted on the website May 2.

Once finalists are selected, it's up to the public to determine who deserves to win. Visit {M7www.seetheworldwithwolfe.com and vote for your favorite contestant. The winner will be chosen based on the number of public votes and Wolfe Eye Clinic panelist votes.  The winner will be announced on June 6 and receive a dream vacation package to the destination of their choice, up to $5,000 in value.

The contest is open only to individuals age 21 and over, residents of the state of Iowa, and those that are nearsighted, farsighted or have astigmatism.

" Patients should be warned of the alarming frequency of LASIK complications. LASIK surgeons don't provide full disclosure to patients that chronic dry eyes and permanent night vision impairment are common after LASIK. LASIK was the worst decision of my life. Since then, I have spent years reading medical research about LASIK complications and built a website to inform patients.
