SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) -- A prison snitch accused of lying about an alleged murder confession is being held in the Elk Point jail after making his first court appearance.
Aloysius Black Crow is charged with two counts of perjury for lying to a grand jury May 24 and at a court hearing Jan. 17.
Prosecutors say he had another inmate pose as prisoner David Lykken (LIHK'-uhn) on secret recordings that suggested Lykken confessed to killing two Vermillion girls in 1971.
Charges have been dropped against Lykken, who's in prison for another crime.
Black Crow also was an informant in the case against James Strahl, who was convicted of a 1998 murder near Beresford. Strahl's lawyer has filed a motion for a new trial in Elk Point.
