Chargers fall to Bellevue

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Joe Johnson's grand slam home run highlighted a six-run eighth inning and gave Bellevue's baseball team a 13-1 win over Briar Cliff Tuesday afternoon.
Drew Farley added a solo home run in the first inning for Bellevue.
Briar Cliff (1-12) got a solo home run from David Callahan in the third inning. However, Coach Boyd Pitkin's Chargers lost four other scoring chances, including a bases-loaded threat in the eighth inning.
The Chargers, who had singles from six other players, stranded nine runners.
Losing pitcher Andy Keane allowed three earned runs, seven hits and two walks while striking out two.
Briar Cliff will start the Great Plains Athletic Conference season Saturday at Hastings College.
