Elderly Nutrition

Persons 60 years of age and older and their spouses may participate in the elderly nutrition program in Siouxland. In Sioux City, meals are served Tuesday-Thursday at Riverside Lutheran Church, 1817 Riverside Blvd.; on Monday at Riverside Gardens' Community Room, 715 Bruner Ave., Fairmount Park, 210 S. Fairmount St., and Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1522 Douglas St.
A suggested contribution is $2.75 or what each person can afford without causing a financial hardship.
Reservations are required a day in advance by calling the Sergeant Bluff site, 943-5356; and Mount Olive site, 255-5465, or the Siouxland Aging Services nutrition office at 279-6900, ext. 15. For more information about other available meal sites, call Siouxland Aging Services at 279-6900.
Monday: Pizza casserole or tavern on a bun, lettuce salad with dressing, pears, pudding
Tuesday: Roast pork, bread dressing or boneless chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, carrots, peaches
Wednesday: BBQ chicken on a bun or hamburger on a bun, potato salad, peas, gelatin cubes with topping, fresh apple
Thursday: Tater tot casserole or fish on a bun, coleslaw, fruit cocktail, brownie
Friday: Roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, wax beans, lettuce salad with dressing, mandarin oranges
Siouxland senior center
The Siouxland Senior Center, 217 Pierce St., is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Monday: Tap class, 9 a.m.; book worms, 10 a.m.; duplicate bridge, 11:30 a.m.; movie, pinochle, woodcarving, 1 p.m.; fitness with Dixie, 3 p.m.
Tuesday: Penny bingo, 8:30 a.m.; yoga (Melissa), beginning Spanish, 9 a.m.; painting class, 9:30 a.m.; walking off the pounds, intermediate Spanish, creative writing, 10 a.m.; crafts, 10:30 a.m.; advanced Spanish, 11 a.m.; pitch, 12:30 p.m.; painting class, tap class, 1 p.m.; tap with Laura, 2 p.m.
Wednesday: Spring Fling Senior Fair, beginning at 10:30 a.m., with the talk show presented by John Kluver, "Container Gardening."
Thursday: Penny bingo, 8:30 a.m.; walking off the pounds, 9 a.m.; yoga (Melissa), Men's Club, line dancing, music theory, 10 a.m.; beginning German, 11 a.m.; beginning line dance, noon; cribbage, 12:45 p.m.; German (1-2), basic line dance, woodcarving, bridge group, 1 p.m.; yoga, 3 p.m.

The South Sioux City Senior Center, 1501 W. 29th St.; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. office hours Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. services Monday through Friday.
Activities: 9 a.m. senior bowling at Harmony Lanes, Monday; 11 a.m. Card Club, Monday and Friday; 9 a.m. billiards tournaments, second, third, and fourth Tuesday; 1 p.m. line dance lessons with Arlene Whalen, Tuesday; 10 a.m. music by Erwin and Marguerite O'Neill and Elsie Brown, Thursday; 7 p.m. jam session by Sonny Woten, Friday.
A daily meal is served from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Pre-registration the day before is appreciated. Suggested donation is $3 per meal for persons 60 and over, and $5 for persons under 60. Take-outs available (same donation rate as eat-in meals). Home-delivered meals at $3.60. Prefer advance notice, call 494-1500.
Home-delivered meals are available in South Sioux City, Dakota City and surrounding area to elderly and handicapped persons. Menu and newsletter available monthly.

North Sioux City senior center
North Sioux City Senior Service Center, 114 Main St., office hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dakota Senior Meals prepared on site and served noon to 1 p.m. five days a week for persons age 60 or over and their spouses. These individuals are eligible at a suggested donation of $3 per meal. Individuals under age 60 are more than welcome at $6.60 per meal. Home delivered and take-out meals are available (donation rate same as eat-in meals) for those confined to their home or have a temporary illness. The Center serves North Sioux City and the immediate surrounding area. Reservations are required a day in advance by calling 232-0808. The meal site is closed on federal holidays.
