Not enforcing immigration laws has put citizens in danger
Posted: Sunday, March 23, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- I am responding to an article appearing in the Journal on Tuesday headlined “Lawyer: Workers’ legal status ‘meaningless.’” The story said barrister James Benzoni believes Americans should stop fixating on the legal status of millions of undocumented workers and find a solution to bring them “out of the shadows.”
Benzoni stated that “illegal, legal is really meaningless because we are the ones making the laws.” He would give them a pathway to citizenship (thought we already had one), or at the very least a permit that would allow them to legally live and work here for decades. Also, we should forget about building a fence and securing our borders. Simply put, Benzoni would just have us rewrite or remove our immigration laws and then the problems this army of strangers has brought to Siouxland would go away.
Immigration laws were established to protect the citizens of the nation, state, and community; and not enforcing them has placed the citizens of Siouxland in danger. Physical danger from gangs (1,000 members in Siouxland now), drugs, murders, various criminal activity and disease. Economic harm by lowered wages, increased taxes, and social costs that far surpass any economic contribution by the illegal aliens to the average citizen of our community and nation.
Mr. Benzoni is said to be a legal specialist in immigration law. I wonder who his clients are. This man by his words and deeds is a traitor to this nation, the Constitution and the hard-working, law-abiding CITIZENS of Siouxland. -- David Nettleton, chairman, Siouxland Minutemen

They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien.
Google it...and it's almost overwhelming how much crime is committed by illegals... "
