Hawaiian airline drops bid to service McCook

MCCOOK, Neb. (AP) -- A Hawaiian airline has dropped a bid to provide essential air services to McCook because of expensive costs to the city for fire and emergency services.
The services would have cost the city $500,000, so Hawaii Island Air dropped its bid. Great Lakes Aviation also submitted a bid.
Hawaii Island Air offered 13 options for between $1.5 million and $1.7 million. The bid by Great Lakes was for $1.8 million for a 19-seat plane to carry passengers to Kansas City, with stops in Grand Island, Hays, Kan. or Salina, Kan.
The advisory board for the McCook airport is expected to decide next week on a connecting hub.
