It's time for 'tough love' with Iraqi government
Posted: Wednesday, April 09, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- The horrific Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld war never ceases to boggle the mind, elevate the blood pressure, or defy common sense. Our best and bravest, along with their families, continue to sacrifice their lives and happiness, while the Iraqis fight among themselves, and our economy and reputation in the world spiral downward.
Of the more than $500 billion the U.S. has already squandered in this debacle, we are told that it costs over $150 million each month just on gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. Meanwhile, the Iraq government socks away anywhere from $35 to $60 billion in oil revenue. We are assured by the Bush administration that it has nothing to do with corruption ... they just don’t know how to spend it.
Pardon me if I’m not comforted.
This is not a war against terrorism. It’s a war WITH terrorism. Unless and until the human race achieves the science fiction level of mind control, there is no way to defeat terrorism. There have been terrorists since Cain slew Abel.
I admire John McCain, and at one time could have voted for him. I disagree with his stance that the history of the war doesn’t matter ... we’re there, so we need to stay until it’s finished. The way this war was justified and conducted does matter, and it’s time for some tough love with the Iraqi government.
We need to be spending our human and financial resources on building and strengthening our country and its defenses, and not on aggressive nation building or reconstructing countries that seem unwilling to use their own substantial resources. -- Don Kingery

Huckans--you mean the Michael Sheuer, Former CIA agent, who claimed Osama and Saddam were working together?
TimM--You are correct, there is a cause and effect, responsibility for your actions. Now, what exact Muslim country did we ""depose their elected leaders and try to put our puppets into place"" that justified terrorists killing 3000 Americans???
