A proud member of Iowa's gay community
Posted: Wednesday, April 09, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- I am really proud to have made Sioux City my home this last year. Making the move to Iowa was a scary proposition at first, yet it exceeded my expectations by a substantial margin. I am amazed by the people I’ve met so far, the relationships I created, and the friendships I am certain will endure the test of time.
What I am most proud of, however, is the stand Iowans are taking on the gay marriage issue. Since last year when in one minute gay marriage was allowed, only to be taken away by the next minute, I was amazed at how much buzz was created about this topic. I just finished reading an article on how 17 friend-of-the-court briefs will be filed with the Iowa Supreme Court on behalf of six same-sex couples who are suing for their right to marry. These are people who have found each other and are ready to take their commitment to the next level through the institution of marriage.
I am exceptionally moved by everyone helping these six couples and I'm proud to be a member of Iowa’s gay community. My thoughts go out to them and all the supporters behind them, for without everyone’s involvement nothing would ever get done. Whatever the result from these cases at the Supreme Court, the struggle next time will not be as tough, and the people involved will know they did something to better the world by creating different points of view for all of us to see.
If it weren’t for the activism of those before us, we would not be where we are today with gay rights. -- Nicholas Holevas

The National Equality Tax Protest will be on Wednesday, April 15th, 2009.
Many more individuals are FINALLY gathering to TAKE A STAND against persecution from the Catholics, Mormons & the Christian "Right". No vote will be needed on this one, folks.
EQUALITY is SIMPLE when you simply include EVERYONE. "

Being gay is not a choice, just like being straight is not a choice. Many years from now it will be laughable to people 50 years from now or less as to how absolutely silly it was that being gay or straight, or bi will be no big deal. Get over yourself people, who are you to judge us? There is nothing wrong with loving another human being Period! It's called Fear, so what are you all afraid of? "

Sorry John, but you did these things to yourself. Why should any one feel sympathy for you when you are paying nothing but the consequences of your own actions." "
