Pizza delivery man robbed at gunpoint
Posted: Saturday, April 19, 2008
SIOUX CITY -- Police are searching for the man who robbed a Domino's Pizza delivery man at gunpoint.
Sioux City police Sgt. Rex Mueller said police were called at 11:40 p.m. Thursday to the 2200 block of Jones Street, where a pizza delivery man had been sent to deliver pizza.
It appeared the suspect phoned in a false order, Mueller said, and intercepted the delivery man before he was able to get to the house.
Police described the suspect as a black man with braided hair and stubble facial hair. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants and black shoes.
The suspect displayed a handgun, demanded money and fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
Mueller said the victim, whom he would not identify, was not injured in the robbery.
This is the second robbery of a pizza delivery man this year.
Three Sioux City teens face up to 10 years in prison for allegedly assaulting and stealing pizza from another Domino's Pizza delivery man on March 24.
A fourth teen was arrested but has not yet been formally charged.
An employee of the Hamilton Boulevard Domino's store confirmed the victim of Thursday's robbery was a fellow employee but referred further comment to a regional manager, who did not return calls seeking comment.
Anyone with information about Thursday's incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at (712) 258-TIPS.
