Radical Islam: The threat is real

When al-Qaida and other Muslim terrorists come to douse our shining beacon, what does the writer of Saturday's Mini Editorial suggest we defend ourselves with - pruning hooks? It's time that we Americans realize that the threat of radical Islam is real and if we don't get serious about fighting it, we risk losing our very existence as a nation.

The war in Iraq is a good example of what we need to do to keep gaining ground in this war. Some are correct when they suggest this war will not be won by military force alone, it will be one by planting seeds of freedom and democracy in places like Iraq, and bringing these people out of the ancient tribal and Holy wars they continue to fight.

Many are too blind, or ignorant to see it now, but going into Afghanistan and Iraq is the first real step toward peace in the Middle East.

Every president in the past 50+ years has negotiated and bartered for peace in the Middle East, and what has been the result time after time?

We've taken real action this time, and will see real results. "
